My brother's 40th birthday was on Tuesday (the 14th) and his party is this Saturday. I made a banner to place over the backdrop for his photo booth. Since the backdrop will be black, I decided to go with a backing color that I've never done before in all my three years of making party banners - white!
My sis-in-law told me to pick a theme color for his birthday, so I thought that sticking to black and white with hints of gold would be a nice touch for a male birthday party. This is his 40th birthday too, a big milestone...so we had to add some glittery details to it! I know for my 40th birthday, I'd like to have some shiny decor for my party (I still got two more years to go)!
I did something a little bit different to this particular banner that I don't normally do. I threaded the ribbon in the front of the banner as opposed to "hiding" it in the back. The banner looked a little plain to me as I laid everything out on the table before assembling. I wanted to add something but I didn't want to go overboard with it. So as I was threading the ribbon through, I noticed it looked much better being exposed. I also added stars in between the words "40th" and "birthday" . I had to break up this banner or it would've extended over 10 feet! LOL my photobooth backdrop width is only 5 feet.
I'll be posting more photos of the party this Saturday so you can all see how the banner looks as it is hung over the photobooth.
By the way, Jose's (the hubby) birthday is this Saturday! I'm thinking of surprising him with a small ice cream cake at my brother's party when the crowd gets smaller and we're about to clean up. He doesn't read this blog, so he won't even know about his cake surprise!
Will I ever find a better "home" for my ribbon collection? Yikes!
And there's my mix of new school and old school crafting: my Cricut and Sizzix.
If I could, I would love to have ALL the die cut machines out there. But *sigh*, it's just a dream.
Just a crafter's dream.
And here's my 2 year old, Noah cozy in his little tent in the craft room. Of course, he's on Youtube, watching something Thomas the Train related.
